Roles and Responsibilities

The implementation of this policy requires commitment from all levels of DanceSport Scotland. Key responsibilities are outlined as follows:

• Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will strategically oversee child protection across the organisation. The committee is responsible for implementing measures and mechanisms described in the Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy, ensuring that child protection is integrated into all aspects of Dancesport Scotland's activities.

• The Council. The Council, working with the Executive Committee, will ensure that child protection is a priority within the organisation and that adequate resources are allocated to implement the policy effectively.

• Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer (CWPO). Dancesport Scotland will appoint a designated Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer responsible for overseeing the implementation of this policy, handling child protection concerns, and ensuring appropriate action is taken when required. The Dancesport Scotland CWPO is Jane Blair.

• Volunteers. Volunteers must adhere to Dancesport Scotland’s Child Wellbeing and Protection policy and codes of conduct and complete appropriate training to recognize and report child protection concerns. They must also act in the best interest of the child at all times. All adjudicators and other officials are required to make a declaration each time they are called upon that they know of no reason why they should not act as officials at our events.

• Parents and Guardians. Parents and guardians are encouraged to work closely with Dancesport Scotland and report any concerns regarding the welfare of their children.
